Copper Cable Testing

Cove Electric, Inc. is equipped with the most advanced tools for all copper cable and fiber optics testing. Whether you are in need of a Delay Skew test to define the difference in propagation delay between the fastest and slowest set of wire pairs; or a Cable Length test to verify the copper cable from the transmitter to receiver does not exceed the maximum recommended distance of 100 meters in a 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T network. Cove Electric has the right tools for the job.

Maybe you are losing signal strength towards the end of your line. This is sometimes called insertion loss or attenuation. This loss is due to the electrical impedance of the copper cable, the loss of energy through the cable insulation and the impedance caused by the connectors.  We provide a full report including dB (decibels) loss. Cove Electric’s Insertion Loss test can help diagnose the problem and our service team can correct it on site!

Other copper wire tests include:

  • Return Loss
  • Near-End Crosstalk (NEXT)
  • Power Sum NEXT (PSNEXT)
  • The Equal-Level Far-End Crosstalk (ELFEXT)
  • Power Sum ELFEXT (PSELFEXT)
  • Attenuation-to-Crosstalk ratio (ACR)
  • Power Sum ACR (PSACR)
  • DC Loop Resistance
